Just Say it, Already

Y'know? In this day and age of blogging and email, it seems like real communication is a lost art. People don't talk anymore. They blog. They email. They facebook. Does anyone use their voice? We get family updates via the email. We see pictures of our nieces and nephews on their blog. We get to see our neighbor breast feeding her baby on her profile picture. (Seriously, why would you want a picture of you nursing your baby on your facebook?)

People are even doing their Christmas cards on their blogs these days. And while this may be more environmentally friendly, where's the personal touch? It all just kind of seems a little cold.

From now on, if you want to update me on your life. If you want to tell me about little Billy or Suzie going off to pre-school. If you have anything of great importance to say to me...PLEASE...

...pick up your dang phone, and text me!

Ha! I just started texting recently, it's addicting. I'm hoping to phase out my phone voice entirely by 2010.

U R so FN E. Is that how you'd say it in textese? You're such an old fashioned gal, little sister! The real gift - and you have it in spades - is when you can communicate with your fingers the same way you would communicate with your mouth. And I'm not just talking about the universal signal for "What, you think you own the whole damned road??" When I wrote my book, someone said "I need you to read this to me so I can hear how you would say these things." I told her I wrote exactly the way I speak, and I assured her that in reading it she would hear more of my voice than she probably wanted. I was right. Now she's not speaking to me... (HA! I kid!)

So, that's where Avery gets her texting from? I must admit it can be addicting. ALthough I am still very slow at texting.
