I Know These Types of Posts are a Snore But...

...for the purpose of chronicling Harley's life I have to do it. He had his 6 month appointment yesterday and here are his stats:

Length: 28"-----> 95%
Weight: 16 lbs 13 oz -----> 25%
Head: 44 cm -----> 75%

So he's still long and lean and apparently growing into his "Stubbs" head. The doctor was a little concerned that's he's weaker than he should be because he doesn't put weight on his legs very often (neither did Hayden and Avery) and his head lags a little when you pull him up to sitting and he doesn't sit at all. He just folds in half. That combined with the fact that he gets constipated so easily and frequently suggests that there might be something wrong with his thyroid. So he has to have his blood drawn. That's right. Drawn. Not just a little heel stick. Full on needle in the arm, several viles later, drawn. I'm completely beside myself about this. I was a total wreck when I had to take him in to get his heel poked when he was 5 days old. (the fact that I was 5 days post-partum may have had something to do with the COMPLETE meltdown I had at the hospital lab) I'm making Tavis go with me. I told him he was either going to have to do it for me or go with because I can't do it alone. I would like to change his diet a little and exercise him more and see where he is at 9 months, but Tavis thinks we should do it now.

So, boo. Other than that, not a whole lot to report. I totally can't get into the spirit of Christmas. Not sure why. Probably because we're more strapped for money this year than we have been in the past. Maybe it's because it hasn't snowed. I hate the snow but it does kind of help bring in the holiday spirit. Yes. I think that's the reason. No snow.

I agree with Tavis. Get the blood drawn now, it's a good thing to know what it might be instead of what it could be. Exercise with him anyway. Some kids are just a little slower but always err on the side of caution. Babies are resilient and since yours is a genius I'm sure he'll totally understand when he gets poked.

I agree with you; having blood drawn is vile. Or did you mean "vials"? Just trying to keep up. (Insert chuckle here!) As for the blood draw, I'm thinking Count Harley will enjoy it, what with his vampire-inspired tooth and all! And maybe mom is on to something: Have you tried feeding him Snickers bars yet? Cuz I'm pretty sure that's how my kids all managed to bulk up, right from the get-go. I'm sure he's fine; he's probably just another human Gumby like your amazingly flexible Hayden! There's no reason to pre-worry!!

Thank you!! Both of you. And I KNEW I had misspelled "vile" I just couldn't figure out the correct spelling for it. Seriously, that bugs me so bad! I always to a little personal cheer when I get to the end of my post and do the spell-check and the only thing I've misspelled it "Tavis". So I say to the spell-checker, "I didn't spell it wrong. His parents did!"
So I guess we're doing the blood draw tomorrow :(

I mean DO a personal cheer. Sheesh!

...and did you mean "the only thing I've misspelled IS Tavis", instead of "IT"? And go ahead, tell me how much you love me for red pencilling your comments. People like me are always so popular inside our own heads...

On to non-blogging matters; your hair looks darling! We're all such total TWINS! (Times two, I mean!) Independent thinking is for sissies! Give me mob mentality any day of the week!

Amber, I checked out the posts a little further down, too, and he is beautiful. I love his chunky newborn photo. I can remember how that new skin feels. My son was exactly 8lbs.

Um, could I ask a favour? Seeing as I don't know you at all and you owe me nothing? I'm writing an article on chastity before marriage and why it's not totally dumb like someone insinuated to me on Twitter. I have made a survey that's pretty quick to fill out. If you and your husband "waited" (don't need to tell me) or if you know of anyone else you think might qualify, could y'all fill this out? I'll probably have a blog post up later this week with results. Here's the link to the survey: http://moourl.com/chastityb4marriage

Thank you!

Oh, I forgot to say that I'd be freaking out over drawing a bunch of blood from my baby. I'd probably cry. No, I know I would.
